Baby Shower for Harper Grace

I have the best girlfriends. Somer, Shelley, (Me), Dana, Paulina and Nesi. These sweet friends threw me a wonderful shower this past weekend and I felt so blessed by all who came to shower Harper and I with love. Here are some pictures from the memorable day we had.

This is the most adorable pink candy bar that I've ever seen. My mom decorated the buffet with a sweet pink dress that she wore as a baby, and that I also wore as a baby!

French macarons were/are a pregnancy craving of mine. The doll in the bottom right of this picture was actually my first baby doll. I put in Harper's crib where it waits for her arrival.

The bonnet was my mother's baby bonnet, and she also put it on me as a child. I'm using it as decoration in Harper's shabby chic pink and sherbet nursery.
The party was at 11 AM and dictated a lovely brunch menu. My friends know me so well and had a delicious food spread.

  • Strawberry Scones with Homemade Strawberry Compound Butter
  • Cheddar & Chive Scones with Homemade Bacon Jam
  • Roasted Asparagus with diced Prosciutto and Parmesan
  • Flaky Baked Brie with Cranberry Jalapeno Jam
  • Flaky Baked Brie with Cranberry Pomegranate Jam
  • Fresh Garden Salad with Goat Cheese and Dried Cranberries
  • Tomato Bruschetta with Balsamic Reduction
  • Salmon Bruschetta with Capers, Red Onion, Dill and Lemon Cream Cheese
  • Strawberries filled with Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting
  • Individual Egg Souffles - Cheese & Bacon, Vegetable

This cake is an exact replica of one I pinned on pinterest. I really love the soft rossets of pink icing.

The inside of the cake was layer upon layer of shades of pink separated by thick icing that resembled pudding. A-MA-ZING!
The beverage bar was equally impressive. Don't you just adore this three tiered glass dispenser with various infused waters?

The mimosa bar was a huge hit. Three fruit juices and fresh berries with sparkling wine served up in a champagne flute. Sparkling water could be added to make these a "pregatini."

On this side table were two stations for attendees to visit. The bin on the right was full of diapers and guests were asked to write short notes to me on the diaper.

As I use the diapers in those first weeks, I get to read the sweet messages from my friends.

Also on this table were printed fill-in-the-blank cards titled "My wish for baby" which attendees filled out for me. I haven't read them yet. I'm thinking of packing them in my hospital bag and reading them while I'm in labor.

I made the wreath that hung on the mantel. It's hanging on Harper's door, but I loaned it to my mom for the shower.

The Raggedy Ann doll was a gift from my Aunt when I was born in the hospital. It is now sitting on top of the armoire in Harper's nursery.

Here is the entrance table with Harper's baby book, for guests to sign in. Funny pictures of Jim and I as babies sit in the back.

The party favors were these cute OPI nail polishes in "It's a Girl" color. So fun and also practical!

Kanice, Dana and Vanessa.

Party guests enjoying lunch and conversation.

Some sweet friends from my church small group visiting around the craft table.

Shelley, my future sister-in-law Tiffany and my mom chatting in the dining room.

Me and Jenna.
Cecily at the diaper table.

Harper received some darling clothes. I can't wait to dress my baby girl up in these outfits.

I saved the best for last. Every part of my shower was so thoughtfully planned. The meaning behind the craft table at the shower was very touching to me.

Each of my friends participated in making a beautiful piece of art for Harper's nursery. Using buttons from my Grandmother and Great-Grandmother's jars, friends hot glued their favorites down onto an outline of the letter H.

Each button thoughtfully chosen, and placed by friends and family.

This will be a very treasured piece of art in the nursery!

My favorite Mother-In-Law ever!

Blogging buddies, Jenn and Stephanie.

Me and the woman I hope to become one day. The only thing better than having her as a mother is knowing Harper Grace will have her as a Nana.

  4. Hello Mandy! I'm Jenn's Mom (blog: PerfectlyImperfect). Goodness, I just had to comment on the most beautiful baby shower I've ever seen 'in photo's'. Wow!!! Such STUNNING details & ALL those special touches added, ie: the pink dress, the bonnet, first baby doll & raggedy ann. Soooo very, very sweet! You can just see the LOVE in every photo & in your words about each. Tears came to my eyes on your comment about your Mom. Soon all of you will be holding & loving on a very lucky, cherished, sweet baby girl. What a special day that's going to be!
