About HWM

(1-13-18) Welcome to Home with Mandy! I'm a Texas girl who discovered cooking about the time I met and fell in love with Jim.

I’ve always been a creative person, love to decorate, sew, craft and throw parties. I live in Austin with my husband Jim and our two adorable children. By day I am an event planner, by night a wannabe chef. I LOVE to cook...It’s cheaper than therapy!

I grew up on frozen fish sticks, homemade meatloaf and cheesy-mac from the blue box. Now, as an adult, I’m diligently building my culinary repertoire by challenging myself to experiment with new ingredients and cultural foods.

My immediate goals are to find recipes my whole family will enjoy. My long-term goals are to learn more about photography and how to use my Canon Rebel T1i. I’m in awe of the excellent food photography out there and hope to steadily get better at it myself (aka moving from the Automatic setting to Manual) by attending blogger camps and photography workshops.

I journal here at Home With Mandy about my cooking and make notes about each recipe to remind myself how I would change it the next time. I have my fair share of messes and successes, but usually always get creative enough to save dinner. (I rarely make the same recipe twice, although my husband has his top 10 to 20 recipes he would love for me to repeat.)

Thanks for stopping in and joining me as I put my own personal spin on dinner.
