It was one of those nights that I didn't work too hard in the kitchen making dinner and I had the energy to do something extra special for dessert. I still had Allyson's KitchenAid Mixer at my house so I "whipped" up this super sexy dessert for Jim and I.
All I used was heavy whipping cream a splash of Grand Marnier and some sugar.
I poured everything into the mixer and turned on a medium speed. Nothing was measured, I just went by gut and it was perfectly stiff and creamy.
Next I rinsed a fresh basket of ripe strawberries.
And dipped in.
This was heavenly. The dash of alcohol that I added gave this homemade whipped cream the most delicious flavor.
This is one of our favorite after dinner drinks. This Tawny Port from Geyser Peak in California is so exquisite. Dances across your tongue in a smooth manner, leaving an oaky finish.
This was the perfect pairing and a wonderful finish to our meal. I don't think I can go back to cool whip again, homemade whipped cream is the way to go!

What a romantic dessert! I am loving the idea of the grand marnier in the whipped cream. I bet it was divine.
